The City of Centerville is now hiring for several seasonal, part-time positions with The Golf Club at Yankee Trace! The state of the art facility is a championship 27-hole resort style golf course that includes a full-service restaurant and high-end banquet facilities. We seek energetic and hardworking people who can assist us in delivering exemplary customer service to our guests.

Sales and Event Management

The City of Centerville is accepting applications for the full-time position of Sales and Event Manager (Assistant Director of Food Services) for The Golf Club at Yankee Trace. The position performs a variety of complex administrative, supervisory, and professional work in the operation of a restaurant and associated banquet and conference facility, located at 10000 Yankee Street.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages and supervises Yankee Trace restaurant and banquet operations to achieve goals within available resources but not limited to e.g., plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff.
  • Responsible for the sales, planning and coordination, execution and delivery of all events, banquets, and special functions, maximizing banquet revenues, working to achieve or exceed the defined budgeted revenues for the banquet department.
  • Responds to requests and complaints, ensuring prompt resolution of guests and client inquiries.
  • Responsible for all internal communications: maintain meticulous records and provide on-going communication with the kitchen as well as with the set-up and banquet event teams.
  • Continually observe, direct and assist staff where necessary during the entire event or throughout the restaurant shift.
  • Assists Director of Food Services to manage the operation of the restaurant, banquets facilities, scheduling and work assignments, food and beverage purchases and sales, and facility rental.
  • Effectively promoting event rentals and restaurant facilities and offerings as well as special events that increase brand exposure and event and restaurant revenue.
  • Keeps records related to the costs of meals served, hours worked by employees, inventory used, and supplies required.
  • Controls alcoholic beverage supply by monitoring inventory and ensuring the state laws are followed.
  • Inspects Supplies, food and equipment to maintain stock levels and ensure standards of quality are met.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends based on scheduling of events.
  • Often required to complete manual projects that may require lifting up to 60 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, event planning or related field.
  • Have knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least two years of front-of-the-house restaurant experience and/or banquet/event positions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to be bonded.
  • Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Pay rate: $45,783 – $59,518 annually, plus excellent benefits, and membership in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.

Golf Operations

Outside Services: Candidates must be at least 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position requires a flexible schedule and weekend availability. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to greeting golfers and assisting them with carrying their golf bags, staging golf carts, picking up practice balls from the driving range, providing customer service for golf outings and golf leagues and cleaning and parking golf carts. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Range: $10.40-$14.39/hour.

Golf Shop Attendant: Candidates must be at least 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position requires a flexible schedule weekend availability. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to operating a cash register; assisting customers with selecting merchandise, assisting golf shop staff with inventory and stocking; assisting customers with scheduling tee times, providing good customer service, cleansing golf shop, and maintaining professional appearance and attitude. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Range: $11.40-$15.41/hour.

Golf Course Maintenance

Groundskeeper: Candidates must be at least 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to mowing, trimming, and various horticultural assignments to maintain the golf course; miscellaneous manual labor and other related tasks; ability to operate maintenance equipment including mowers, trimmers, edgers and hand tools.  Averages between 20-40 hours per week. Pay Range: $12.40-$16.44/hour.

Food and Beverage

Restaurant and Banquet Servers: Candidates must be at least 19 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position requires a flexible schedule and weekend availability. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to serving food and beverages to guests in the restaurant, patio, ballroom and lounge. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Ranges: Restaurant Server $6.50-$11.30/hour+tips; Banquet Server$10.30-$14.39/hour +tips.

Beverage Cart Attendant: Candidates must be at least 19 years of age with a valid driver’s license. The position requires a flexible schedule and weekend availability. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to selling beverages, snacks, sandwiches, hot dogs and other items on the golf course. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Range: $6.50-$11.30/hour +tips.

Bartender: Candidates must be at least 21 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position requires a flexible schedule and weekend availability. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to serving food and beverages to guests in the restaurant, patio, ballroom and lounge. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Range: $11.00—$14.39/hour +tips.

Line Cook: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to cleaning, washing and storing dishware, glassware and utensils. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Range: $14.23 -$18.50/hour.

Dishwasher: Candidates must be at least 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to cleaning, washing and storing dishware, glassware and utensils. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Range: $10.40 -$14.39/hour.

Restaurant and Banquet Servers: Candidates must be at least 19 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position requires a flexible schedule and weekend availability. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to serving food and beverages to guests in the restaurant, patio, ballroom and lounge. Averages 20 hours per week. Pay Range: Restaurant Server $6.50-$11.30/hour + tips; Banquet Server$10.30-$14.39/hour + tips.

Civic Volunteer

CIVIC Municipal Volunteer Program

The City of Centerville’s municipal volunteer program, Citizens Involved in Centerville (CIVIC), assists the city in its efforts to provide superior services to its residents, and extends opportunities for citizens to participate in their local government and community.

Greeter / Player Assistant: Now accepting applications for volunteer greeters and player assistants. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position is active during the golf season; April thorough October. Duties include greeting golfers and checking receipts on the fist tee and providing information about daily course conditions. Player assistants monitor pace of play and  provide customer service to golfers on the golf course. up to 9 hours per week.

Shuttle Drivers: Now accepting applications for volunteer shuttle drivers. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position is active during the golf season; April thorough October. Duties include transporting golfers and guests of the facility to and from clubhouse and transporting members to and from the private practice facility. Average 6 or 7 hours per week.

Course Beautification: Now accepting applications for golf course beautification volunteers. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The position is active during the golf season; April thorough October. Duties include mulching and planting flower beds, placing sand on fairways and greens and other agronomy practices. Average 6 or 7 hours per week.
