Patriot Golf Days (6:00AM)
Give Back to Those Who Have Given So Much
The Golf Club at Yankee Trace will participate in the fourth annual Patriot Golf Day, a joint initiative of The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association. Golfers across the country and at Yankee Trace have the unique opportunity to donate $1 or more to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation (FoldsofHonor.org), which provides post-secondary educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty. Yankee Trace will request at least an additional $1 for each green fee that is processed Sept. 3-6.
More than 4,480 PGA-staffed facilities participated in the third annual Patriot Golf Day in 2009. Golfers nationwide are asked to donate a minimum of $1 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation to provide post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. Patriot Golf Day has raised more than $5.4 million dollars in the past four years and the Folds of Honor Foundation has awarded more than 1,163 scholarships.
Patriot Golf Day was inspired by Major Dan Rooney, a PGA Professional and USGA member from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Rooney has served three tours of duty in Iraq as an F-16 pilot in the 125th Fighter Squadron of the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
